My first experience of what Webomates is really like was in my interview. Here is how it went :

CEO(Aseem Bakshi): “Swetha will be away for her mat leave, and we will give you another point of contact until she returns. I hope you are coming back, Swetha.” 

Swetha: “of course I am.”
Aseem: “So why do you want to switch from freelance to full-time work?”
Jaya (Interviewee ME ): “I wanted to focus on my baby, so I took off from full time and started freelancing….” 
Aseem:” Oh! So, you are a returnee? No need to explain further. We have many returnees in our organization”.

And the focus of the questions moved to the projects I did in my freelancing.

This might sound like a simple conversation to someone; but for me or any other woman, it’s inspiring to know how easily a company is shrugging off the tags “Women on Maternity Leave,” “Freelancer,” or “Returnee,” and see beyond these tags when it comes to hiring women in the workforce. 

Almost a month in the organization for me, and the glimpses speak volumes about companies’ culture.

Similarly, Swati (Manager HR) didn’t pause for a second when I told her that I am Freelancer looking for a full-time job. She asked about my work profile and instantly replied: “ok, when should we schedule your Interview.”

It made me realize that the culture of women empowerment permeates from the CEO and COO (a woman) to HR (a woman) at Webomates.
